Their Final verdict reads
Gamers have been waiting for the follow-up to the vastly underrated Killzone for a while now but the folks at Guerrilla used the time wisely, crafting an amazing FPS game that PS3 owners can crow about. With top-notch graphics, fantastic single- and multiplayer modes, Killzone 2 has pretty much everything a PS3 shooter junkie could need.
G4TV has shared this review of the game:

Shooters have replaced fighting games as the most over-saturated genre in gaming today, and it's increasingly difficult to stand out from the crowd. However, with its unparalleled graphics, incredibly well-paced single-player campaign and in-depth multiplayer offerings, Killzone 2 has established its place among top-tier console shooters. Expectations on Killzone 2 had reached ridiculous proportions; here's one of those cases where the game actually lived up to them.

End line, Killzone 2 is, by IGN's definition, outstanding. It is consistent in every respect and is testament to the talents of the developer as well as the power of the PS3 in the hands of a team that knows how to use the hardware - and who have the full support of Sony behind them. In the same stroke, it is not the be all and end all of console shooters, or even shooters on the PS3 - but if you've read this far and you're one of the Killzone devout, you probably won't care anyway. You can rest easy knowing it was ultimately worth the wait.
videogamer.com concluded:
Why isn't Killzone 2 a perfect 10? The lack of a co-op mode is the biggest reason. It seems an odd choice, not just because co-op is modern day shooter de rigueur, but because it feels as if the game was built for it and then, right at the last minute, the feature was cut. For about 90 per cent of the game you're playing alongside at least one other member of Delta Squad. More often than not it's two of you versus the world, or a boss. There are times when you'll play Killzone 2 and think, wow, that would have rocked with a mate, and then feel a little sad because you're not. Even if the game's too demanding to allow two players to take on the Helghast on one console, why not facilitate the feature across PSN?
Killzone 2's been hyped waaaay too much, of course. And, no, it doesn't live up to the hype, because if it did it would be the greatest FPS of all time, which it isn't. But it is the best PS3-exclusive to date. Better even than LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4. Two years into the console's life cycle, the undoubted graphical potential of the machine has been realised - Killzone 2 unleashes the power of the PS3 - nothing on any console comes close. The sheer OMG!-ness of the experience makes Killzone 2 worth buying a PS3 for. And, given how much they cost, that's one hell of a compliment.

Based on graphics, gameplay, and overall chaos factor, Killzone 2 is FPS gold. The singleplayer campaign plays like a Jerry Bruckheimer film. Everything is exploding, burning to ash, ricocheting around you. It’s hairball. Though combat can get repetitive, it lacks serious boss fights, and there are a few control issues, overall both the singleplayer and multiplayer modes are fun, the latter of which adds plenty of replay value. Gripes aside, Guerilla Games have surpassed our expectations, delivering a thoroughly engaging, gorgeous shooter that’s a must buy for PS3 owners who like to shoot stuff.
totalvideogames.com provides us with this quote:
Undoubtedly a visual masterpiece that proves the PS3 does have the power to carry the format forwards, KillZone 2 is a wonderfully solid and entertaining first-person shooter. Although it falls short of offering a genre defining experience, the combination of a rewarding single-player campaign and deep multiplayer means KillZone 2 is certainly a worthwhile purchase - and of course the ludicrously high presentation make it all the more sweeter.
Thunderbolt.com adds:
Killzone 2 is a tremendously solid game. It doesn’t re-invent the wheel, but Hell; round ones work just fine anyway. Guerrilla Games have actually lived up to the massive potential and delivered one of the best FPSs of the last couple of years, which can happily sit next to and perfectly compliment Resistance 2 in any PS3 owner’s collection. It’s not perfect and there are a few things which could do with a bit more care for the next game - largely the lack of co-op and fairly dull story and characters - but nonetheless, this is one of the most beautiful, explosive and entertaining shooters of the console generation so far. Bring on Killzone 3.

Final gameplay video for this blog entry:
My conclusion would be that there is no better FPS on the consoles for FPS fans to play. If you are not particularly an FPS fan but have enjoyed them on a console before then this will be a great game for you as well. The multiplayer is deep and the single player campaign is well put together. Gorilla Games has continued support for the game in the form of patches and DLC. There have been 3 DLCs so far containing 2 maps each and new weapons, unfortunately however these are not free and I wouldn't consider them proper incentive for new gamers to buy into the killzone franchise. Kilzone 2 patch support goes a long way to improve the game and can not be overlooked
