General requirements:
1 free sata connection to your PC (360 disc drives use an SATA connection to the 360 so to connect one to your PC your PC will also need to have the connector)
A connectivity kit of some sort. This is to make the entire process a bit easier and less messy. The 360 Disc drive does not use the same power connectors as found on the PC so you would have to use the 360 to power the disc drive during the flashing process if you dont have the kit. With the connectivity kit you can plug the drive through the kit to the PC molex power connectors.
Connectivity Kits - some come with the lite-on key retriever included
Connectivity Kit 1
Connectivity Kit 2
Connectivity Kit 3
If your PC does not have Sata connectors but has a free PCI slot then the best option is a VIA chiptset (VT6421A) PCI to SATA controller such as the one linked below.
VIA chipset PCI to SATA 1
VIA chipset PCI to SATA 2
Scenario 1- You do not have a lite-on DVD drive.
In this case you simply dismantle the 360 as is seen below, remove the drive and connect it to the connectivity kit and to the PC.

To know which hitachi drive you have simply look on the label on the drive.

(all the above tutorials taken from Team xecutor CK3 tutorial site)
Scenario 2 - You have a new 360 with the lite-on drive.
In this case you would need, in addition to the connectivity kit, a key finder tool that will be connected to the drive to obtain a unique key that is needed for the flashing process.
Probes/Key retrievers:
Probe 1
Probe 2
My advice is to buy a connectivity kit that already includes a probe as the combination would usually cost more separately.
Flashing a Lite-on Drive with the CK3 from Team Xecuter
Below is a link to the team xecuter flashing tutorial for use with the ck3 under windows XP. Links to download flashing programs will be provided at the end of this blog entry along with links to any other useful apps.
Team Xecuter Tutorial for Lite-on flashing in windows
Please note that you MUST NOT flash a lite-on drive or erase the drive without having the key saved. Also double check the key as is mentioned in the tutorial. Flashing in DOS is a better and safer option than flashing in windows and this can be done through the use of a couple programs. Namely DOSflasher and Xflasher (better option)
*A DOS flashing tutorial link will be posted soon
A summary:
Hardware needed:
- Xbox 360
- Connectivity Kit
- Key probe to retrieve a key if your drive is a lite-on drive
- PCI to SATA controller if your PC does not have a SATA connector free
To determine what DVD drive is in your 360, follow this link
Applications of use:
JungleFlasher - Some useful information from the introduction page of the jungle flasher website.
Dosflash - ReadMe and instructions
Xflasher 0.77 - How-to PDF
iPrep 101 v007.3 Beta (Windows)
CK3 PRO USB Vista Drivers
CK3 PRO USB XP Drivers
DVDKey32 0.6 inc New PortIO32 (Windows)
Please note that you do not need all the applications listed. Simply look through the tutorials and use the applications as needed. My recommendation is to use Xflasher if you are comfortable with dos and jungleflasher if you must use windows. Xflasher provides all the needed steps for flashing your drive in DOS and there is reduced risk of the OS freezing which is known to occur when using the VIA PCI to SATA card.
Please follow the instructions carefully to avoid complications and remember, as is the norm, you do this at your own risk.
